About This Experience

A hook, a ball of yarn and one stitch to start from. Everything after that is the same movement repeated, which is what makes a first row possible at all.

Granny squares worked a round at a time, in whatever colours come out of the basket. A blanket is only ever one of these joined to the next.

Hands in a speckled knit sweater starting a pale pink round on a hook, finished granny squares in mustard, green and rust laid out behind.
A granny-square blanket in red, olive green, cream and white, edged in dark teal, with a ball of the teal yarn resting on it.
Two people at a wooden table, one crocheting from a ball of blue yarn while the other points to her work, balls of coloured yarn around them.
